How Outdoor Carpet Reviews Can Help in Choosing the Best Outdoor Carpeting

!±8± How Outdoor Carpet Reviews Can Help in Choosing the Best Outdoor Carpeting

Outdoor carpet reviews look at the types of outdoor carpeting available and which is best suited for your project. First we need to consider a few things before choosing the best outdoor carpet for your project. Where will it be used? Will it be exposed to moisture, sun or chemicals? How much traffic will it endure?

You also have different qualities, weaves and colors to choose from. Outdoor carpet can be purchased in rolls like regular carpet or tiles. In order to pick the best quality carpet for your project, first consider where it will be used. This will determine if the best outdoor carpet needs to be stain, fade or moisture resistant carpet.

If the area you want to cover is patios decks or pool sides then grass outdoor carpeting would be a better solution, because it is stain and moisture resistant. It's also protected from fading in the sun. If it will be exposed to moisture it should have a marine backing. This will prevent mold and mildew problems. Astro turf is also used for golf courses, play grounds and athletic fields.

Plush carpets are often discussed in outdoor carpet reviews. If your project is in an area that won't be exposed to direct sun or weather then you can choose plush carpet. Plush carpet is good for high traffic areas and is softer than the other types of outdoor carpeting.

Outdoor carpeting comes in either rolls or tile. Both work well in high traffic areas. You will need to use a thicker carpet in these areas. The thickness will also make it last longer.

The good thing about tiles is you can replace just the damaged tiles instead of the entire carpet. Tiles can be installed on cement, stone, ceramic and wood floors. Interlocking kind is best on patios and decks because it allows for moisture to drain.

Laying carpet is relatively easy, cost effective way to improve your homes value. Before purchasing carpet figure out where you plan to use it, and what treatment it will have to withstand.

Next decide on quality. Usually the thicker carpets are the higher quality and the longer it will last. Next decide between tiles and roll. Be sure to check for its durability and required maintenance and how it withstands weather. All these factors combined in quality outdoor carpet reviews will help you choose the best outdoor carpet.

How to Repair a Damaged Or Broken Fence Post

!±8± How to Repair a Damaged Or Broken Fence Post

Here are some techniques on how to deal with a broken post.

There are a number of ways to deal with this problem depending on what kind of post has broken, typically wooden posts sometimes rot at the base ground level and snap.

If this is the case there are only two options one extract the post remove the concrete using a kango gun to break out all the old concrete, fit new post into ground and re-concrete.

The other option is to use a concrete spur, you will need to dig down the face of the broken post down to a depth of at least 18 inches and approximately 6 inches square, slide the concrete post down the face of the broken post and bolt together the concrete spur and the broken post

Once secure use the level to check the post is true, then using Batten to secure the post and ensure no movement will occur, then add your concrete making sure you tamp concrete around the spur, remove the batten once the concrete has set.

For a temporary measure to secure the post

Drive a stake or peace of angle iron into the ground with a sledgehammer and either screw the stake or angle on to the post, you could also use heavy duty tie raps or rope to secure but only as a temporary measure as this will not last.

Broken posts can be very difficult to take out of the ground if it has been concreted I would highly recommend a fencing contractor to be called to deal with this problem.

The Basics Of How To Build A Deck

!±8± The Basics Of How To Build A Deck

Are you a new homeowner who would like to improve the property and build a deck in your back yard? Or is your current deck rotting away in the sun, rain, and from boring beetles? Adding a deck to your current space has never been easier and can be designed to all your own requirements. Read on to find out more about the general idea of how to build a deck.

The first step is to choose your own materials. Wood is vital to anyone's success. There are several good woods to use; however, pressure treated southern pine, cedar, or redwood are your best options. They are beautiful woods and are also weather resistant. For each wood, there are specific guidelines to the size of the beam, joists, and several other vital necessities for the deck.

Next, you will want to prepare the ground. This preparation will involve removing the sod from the deck's location, as well as sloping the ground to prevent pooling under the deck. Lastly in the preparation phase, you will want to cover the ground beneath your future deck with a substance such as black polyethylene to prevent weed growth. With your ground surface prepared, you will next want to begin the substructure.

Step-by-step instructions are beyond the scope of this article. But building the substructure will include such accomplishments as mounting the ledger, pouring the concrete bobs and piers, and adding the posts to the piers once the concrete has set. Then you will add the beams and joists. For a pure and simple deck with no fancy railings or stairs, the last step will be to plank down the decking.

If, however, you want to add a railing to your new deck, begin by doing the corners. This way you will be able to evenly space the railing components from each other. The subrailings and cap rails come next before one finishing touch, the decorative balusters. The final step to building your own deck is to grab Grandma's old rocking chair and a glass of lemonade and relax from the heights of your very own deck!

With the right tools and materials, anyone can build a deck to enhance their home. First, you design a deck. Next, you check any and all local building codes to make sure that your design corresponds to the codes. The third step is that you actually build a deck. And finally, you sit back and enjoy the labor of your hands. So get to work! A glass of lemonade or coke outside is just a few days away.

Basic Steps to a Cedar Lattice Fence Installation

!±8± Basic Steps to a Cedar Lattice Fence Installation

First determine the area where fence will be built, allow for necessary set back, property line, local code etc. Run string line to mark fence line and where posts will be located. Some important tools/materials needed include: Skill saw, quickcrete, level, drill, wood screws, tape measure, L-supports, cedar pickets, 4 x 4 posts, 2x4s, 1x2s, and cedar lattice.

Concrete in 4 x 4 posts along string line 8 feet apart. Keep in mind this Cedar fence is built from scratch, (if you plan to build from cedar lattice fence panels, then these guidelines can still be used, but install the panels according to manufacture instructions). Let posts set a while before continuing on, make sure they are level. Option is to use green treated posts, however cedar looks better and can be treated with sealer to make last a long time.

Next start with the 2x4's, the top will need to exceed 8 feet to cover the top of the posts, the next 2 x 4 will be anchored 1 foot below the top, screws and or L-supports can be used. The third
2 x4 is attached at the bottom about 2 inches from the ground.

Insert Cedar fence pickets along and centered between 2x4's. 1x2's ripped or if you can find a cedar trim to secure the pickets in place. Tighten as necessary and finish screwing on the trim.

The Cedar lattice is next, cut and install between top two 2x4's. Use same technique to center and use trim to hold in place. The cedar lattice should be no more than 12 inches tall, this allows you to cut 4 pieces from a 4x8 foot cedar lattice board. If gates are needed. Frame the cedar fence gate using same height measurements as fence but allow at least 1/2 inch gap for gate on each side for ease of opening gate. Use gate hinge/latch kit and install using instructions that come with the kit.

Last is to use a protector or water sealer for a long lasting and great appearance. This should be done yearly or so the natural cedar appearance is not lost and the cedar does not gray. A an example is Thompson's water seal that keeps the natural color, use a deck type sprayer which makes it easy to apply.
